Training, classes, lessons — same session, different words
Some Burlington parents call what we do “basketball training,” some call it “basketball classes,” some go looking for “basketball lessons.” The Canadian Martyrs program covers all three — the same weekly HoopStars session, not three different products.
Every session mixes coached skill work — shot form, dribbling, footwork, passing — with a short game to apply it. That’s the entire model.
What a Burlington session actually looks like
Warm-up, then rotating skill blocks: 10 minutes handle, 10 minutes shooting form, 10 minutes finishing at the rim. Then a small-sided game for the last third. Group sizes are capped so every kid runs every drill.
One venue, one program
Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary is our home in Burlington — same curriculum and same coaching approach families see across the rest of the HoopStars network, on a fixed weekly slot.
Beginners are the norm
A large share of every Burlington season is kids taking their first basketball lessons. Coaches sort by skill within each age band so first-timers train with first-timers.
When training moves into games
Once the mechanics stick, kids can layer game day on top — the structured Burlington game format with referees. Camp weeks are not offered at Canadian Martyrs; families willing to drive can add a week at basketball camp in Mississauga (a separate location).
For every HoopStars program at every Burlington venue, see our Burlington home page. All-girls option (across the GTA): girls basketball. Younger kids: toddler or preschool basketball.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does HoopStars basketball training run in Burlington?
Weekly training runs at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School (3201 Lansdown Drive, Burlington, ON L7M 1K1). A heated indoor gym — training continues through every season.
What does a HoopStars basketball class in Burlington look like?
Small-group weekly sessions mixing skill blocks — shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork — with a short scrimmage. It works equally well as a basketball class, lesson, or focused skills training depending on the age band.
Do you offer basketball skills training in Burlington?
The Burlington training program IS skills training — the majority of every session is shot mechanics, ball handling, and footwork reps. There is no separate "skills" product to book on top of the standard training session.
What ages can join basketball lessons in Burlington?
Basketball training in Burlington runs for ages 4 through 14, sorted by age band and skill inside the band. Beginners train with beginners; returning players train with peers who have played before.
How long is a Burlington season?
Standard seasons run 8 to 12 weeks. Sessions are once a week, roughly 60 minutes for younger groups and up to 90 for older. Registration is per season.
Are camps offered at the Burlington venue?
No — camp weeks are not offered at Canadian Martyrs in Burlington. Camp runs only at our Mississauga venues (a separate location). Burlington hosts weekly training and game day only.
